These printable designs are perfect for school assignments, binder covers, writing letters, and any other festive projects you may have. Using one of these Christmas border images is the perfect way to add a festive touch to otherwise plain paper (and a little extra Christmas cheer never hurts!).

Free Christmas borders

These Christmas border templates are full of holiday and winter-themed images, including Christmas trees, candy canes, Christmas lights, gingerbread men, snowmen, and Christmas ornaments. Most page border designs are clearly Christmas-themed, like the nativity page (one of my favorites!), the Santa Claus letter template, or the page that says “Merry Christmas”. But there are also a few generic seasonal borders that can be used all winter long, like the winter snowflakes pages. With plenty of different styles to choose from, you’re bound to find the perfect adorable Christmas border for your project!

Most of these free printable pages have a white background so you’ll save some printer ink, but that also means you could print some of the simple designs on colored paper if you want. I only have one page that’s lined…but if there’s a design you’d really like to have lines, you could probably persuade me to add it to this post if you leave a comment below.

These versatile borders can be used for so many things, like:

• Christmas letters (including letters to or even from Santa)
• a Christmas newsletter: I often see families include one with their yearly Christmas card. The full page gives you a lot more space to update family and friends on what’s going on in your life. Just pick one of these festive borders that coordinates with your holiday card and print your newsletter on it!
• educational uses: Students can use these borders to dress up a title page for an assignment or make a binder cover. If you’re a teacher, you’re also welcome to use any of these printables in your lesson plans or classroom decorating. You could even make things like handwriting practice more fun for young kids by simply printing on one of these holiday clipart borders.
• holiday flyers and invitations: These printable frames are also great for a wide variety of flyers and invitations–church gatherings, Secret Santa drives, white elephant parties, and everything in between.

How to use these free printables

Each printable border is available as its own PDF file, so all you have to do is click the image of the design you like and the file will open in a new tab, ready to download or print. No zip file or complicated downloads! I don’t even ask you for your email address before offering freebies–you’re welcome!

To download the file and save to your computer for future use, click the download button at the top of the tab that opens containing the file (the image of an arrow pointing down). The download will most likely go into your downloads folder on your computer and you can access it from there or move to another location. Or, if you just want to print the file from the browser tab that opens, click the printer icon.

If you want to customize the digital papers before printing, you’re in luck! You can open the PDF documents in a program like Adobe Acrobat to add text or tweak them for your needs. If that sounds a little too complicated (no worries!) or you’re using another program like Microsoft Word, you can also pre-print the Christmas border you want to use, then run the paper through your printer again to print your document onto it. Super easy!

These full page borders are designed for standard 8.5″ x 11″ paper size (US letter size). I’m sure you can print on other size paper, but I haven’t tried it so use your printer dialog settings to size it correctly and do a test print first.

For best results, print on white printer paper or card stock. Be sure to select borderless printing so the border prints all the way to the edge. You can also send the files to a professional print shop if you need higher quality prints.
