Free Printable Star Wars Glow Stick Valentines

These printable Star Wars valentines with glow stick lightsabers are so fun! These make a great non-candy valentine for kids!

I love designing fun and unique printable valentines! These Star Wars valentines featuring a glow stick lightsaber are super simple, but I bet your kid and all the kids in their class will love them (Star Wars fans or not)!

These valentines say “May the force be with you, Valentine” and include a spot to write who it’s from. The image of a lightsaber handle (I’m told it’s called a hilt) becomes a 3-D lightsaber when you insert a glow stick into the paper slots.

These valentines are awesome to hand out as a non-candy valentine option, which is great if anyone in the class has allergies or issues with artificial dye or sugar (we’re a dye-free family over here!). And everyone loves glow sticks!

Supplies needed to make these lightsaber valentines

  • white copy paper: You could also use white cardstock for more stability, but I actually think the thinner paper works better since the glow sticks are so rigid and you don’t want to accidentally break them when putting the valentines together.
  • printer: I used a color printer, but you could easily print these with only black ink!
  • the free printable valentine (download at the end of this post)
  • paper trimmer or scissors
  • single hole punch
  • 8 inch glow stick bracelets: I found packs of 12 at my Dollar Tree for $1.25, but I think those packs are now discontinued (also why I could only find green and purple). You can still get a variety pack, though, that actually has 15 bracelets in it (plus some extra things that you could just keep for your own kid to play with). Walmart also has packs of 8 for $0.97. These are great options if you only need enough for a classroom. Or, this pack of 100 is another inexpensive option!
  • tape

Can you use something besides glow sticks?

Yes! These Star Wars valentines would also work with Pixy Stix (whoa, I haven’t had one of those in forever), pencils, gel pens (you might have to use a larger hole punch), or crazy straws. You could also use mini bubble wands, except I would skip the hole punch and just tape the bubbles to the front instead.

Whatever you decide to use as the toy/treat, measure before punching holes to make sure it fits first (or you can tape it on or attach it with glue dots, depending what it is).

How to make these printable Star Wars valentines

Download the printable below. There are two versions included in the PDF: one with a black galaxy background, and one with a white background (this second one is for anyone who prefers to save printer ink–you’re welcome 😊). Each sheet of paper will give you four valentines.

Use a paper trimmer to cut in between. Then use a single hole punch to punch a hole on the right hand side of the lightsaber handle, as well as further down, roughly under the “I” or “N” in VALENTINE.

It will be easiest to fill out the “FROM” at this point, so have your child write their name on all the valentines (or fill it out yourself).

Next, assemble all the glow sticks so they have a connector on one end (this is optional, but important if you want the recipient to be able to use the glow stick as a bracelet). Be so careful doing this, though, as it’s so easy to accidentally snap the glow sticks! If the connector is too large to fit through the hole-punched hole in the valentine, then you can do this step after.

Slip the glow stick in the punched holes so it shows on the front of the valentine as shown (again, being careful not to break the glow stick). Tape each end down on the back of the paper (optional, but helps the valentine lay more flat).

And just like that, you’ve completed your Jedi training and are now ready to hand out valentines! Ha. Aren’t these fun, though?!

Obviously you want to let your recipients break the glow sticks themselves, but here is what those “lightsabers” look like with glowing sticks:

Be sure to print at 100% scale and select borderless printing so the printed image goes all the way to the edge. Do a test print before printing multiple copies and make sure the sizing is correct with your glow sticks or other toy/treat you’re using.
